Remember my recent remarks about Zay Smith who writes QT in the Chicago Sun Times?
Well indeed he gave Wordcraft some ink in the Sunday Chicago Sun Times, including publishing our Web site address. Thanks, QT! Wordcrafter had sent him this poem, as QT was searching for a rhyme for poetry: To find a rhyme for "silver" or for any rhymeless rhyme, One needs to have the WILL, VERbosity, conceit and time. (Or so said Stephen Sondheim, though I've modifed a bit, To change the meter, changing the idea not a whit.) But finding a rhyme for "poetry" (another rhymeless rhyme) Proved quite a task. You KNOW, IT REally occupied my time. Not bad, Mr. Wordcrafter. We didn't know you were a poet, too! Wordcrafter has put the poem on our home page. Maybe we'll see some new registrants. Oh...and feel free to try to rhyme "poetry" with your poems. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kalleh, |

Well, here is mine...in limerick form of course!
Of his readers QT asks too much; I'm too busy with working and such. Today I will grow a tree Cuz there's NO rhyme for poetry. That challenge I'm not gonna touch! |

Noah's ark, lacking plant space, would tow a tree.
The constrictor lives in his boa tree. Any dogwood you find in the park Is soon recognized by its bark; It takes special talent to know a tree. Is this a branch of limbnology? |

That's great, Jerry, and you didn't even need Tinman's "koa tree."

A garden shop had some shrubs
that Edgar A. desired, but following his purchase the salesman soon was fired. The owner told him, "See here, lad, that fellow gives me chills, and catering to his odd whims will surely cause us ills. Carniverous plants he'll purchase next, and then just wait and see - Pretty soon you'll lose your cool and sell old Poe a tree! |

An absolutely antique thread, but since it's advertised on the homepage, this newbie couldn't resist a challenge:
A mortgage-man Dan sat below a tree, Wrapped in Browning and similar poetry. "You can call it my hunch -- Beats the fare they call lunch To prepare for more borrow-and-owe-itry. |
