It is also called, and I learned to call it, the plusquamperfect: Latin plus quam perfectum 'more than (present) perfect'. —Ceci n'est pas un seing. |

Now that is a perfectly awful term to have to have learned! |

Tho I thank the lord for my dear Mudder
My birthday cuz ‘o her was a dud, er, Cuz she held her 80th On an important date-ieth: It wuz MY birthday, and the middle of my vay-cate-ieth!!!… So I spent my ‘happy return’ Stacked in a steeply banked turn ‘Stead of Cape Cod beach sunning I shortened the funning And spent three days doing a slow burn! On the way back a tornado threat Declared northeastern trips a poor bet I sat on the tarmac With nary a bar, mac No beer is served in a taxiing jet! For three hours the seatbelt signs were all on: Said the stewardess, “no trips to the john!” When the pilot said, ‘make nice’ She came around with some ice And a message: ‘this flight’s cancelled, mon!’ After a bone-rattling shuttle to hell A/k/a some smelly town with a hotel Got 3 or 4 hrs sleep At an airline discount (steep) And stand-by’d back to dear Brewster pell-mell! The moral may not be quite clear For there is none in families quite dear It’s: do what you must Obligation is cussed But we do it for our sweet mums, hear, hear! |

In November we missed a big day of arnie's -- Oh what can we say?! We're sorry, dear sir, ('Tis human to err!) We don't know what led us astray! And then there was Tinman's as well! (Our site must be going to Hell!) Dear Tinny, we hope You'll forgive and won't mope, And that next time you'll give us a yell! And then in December we missed The birthday of CJ...I'm pissed! Though his days here are gone, He helped us to spawn This great site that we can't resist! Now tomorrow is someone's big day So please all you dears, don't betray! Wish him the best (Our linguist...we're blessed!) And do so without much delay! Happy belated birthday arnie, Tinman, and CJ. Happy real birthday (tomorrow), z! |

I have moved the birthday list here. Please PM me if you'd like your birthday included in the list. The most updated version apparently has been deleted, so this one is a bit old. Thanks!

It's becoming useless to remember these birthdays. We missed Richard's on February 24th...so sorry, Richard! We hope it was good!
Dear Richard, I'm feeling so glum, without cheer For missing your birthday right here. Though I'm feeling blunderful, I hope it was wonderful, Drinking some fabulous beer! So sorry, Richard. We also missed Jo's birthday on March 1st, though she hasn't been around in a long time. If you look in from time to time, Jo, happy belated birthday! Any thoughts on ways we might keep this current? I am wondering if it's a hindrance being a sticky thread. Do people not look at it because it's always on the top? As you can see, April is a big month. Maybe this month will be our revival! |

I think you're probably, right, Kalleh. I've removed the "stickiness"; let's see if that works better! Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Richard and Jo! In advance, Happy Birthday to Bob, who, so long as there are no further repercussions to their recent missile-firing, should be in North Korea on his birthday. While I'm about it, happy Birthday to Cat! Come on you raver, you seer of visions, Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine! |

Thanks, arnie,
Happy EARLY birthday to Bob. I had such fun with this one: Happy Birthday, our lover of Alice. He's brilliant and carries no malice. We value his loyalty, Sure he's not royalty? [The rhyme you expected’s too callous!] [If you're faint at heart, you'd better not look at the last line. |

Oh, honey, I tried to write something a little different, but perhaps I need a little inspiration from Jerry! Happy Birthday anyway! |
