There was an excellent article in the Chicago Tribune today about a woman who saved the lives of 2500 Jewish children during the Holocaust. We've all heard of Schindler, but it took 4 high school students to find this lady in Poland. Now she has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
The high school teacher for the 4 girls who worked on the history project where they found Irena Sendler had long taught his students a Hebrew expression: Tikkun olam, which means "to repair the world." What a great phrase. Do we have anything similar? |
