Hang in there, Guarani speakers. For hundreds of years in England, French was the language of the royals, the courts, the elites, the bureaucracy. & the speakers of Anglo-Saxon tongues were derided as poor brutes. Those frogs may have snuck in many words but ultimately their lingo was pushed back to their own shores. | |||

Where did Anglo-Saxon come from? Not Britain. Next one has to ask where ancient Celtic came from. And, of course, those pesky Romans left quite a trail. I guess we speak Scrabble! | |||
