I have just received a rather splendid review of my current pamphlet from Emma Purshouse who is not only one of the most entertaining live poets around but also currently the Poet Laureate for Wolverhampton. Here is her review... "In a year when travel to foreign places has been impossible I've very much enjoyed visiting China by way of Robert Hale's pamphlet 'Xi'an A Walk In The Rain'. Hale (formerly from Bilston) now lives in China. The poems are short snapshots of place in a haikuesque tone. The images are Hale's digitally processed photos which work in tandem with the words. We are treated to urban waterfalls, silk rainbows and bread making. I could almost smell the mutton soup, and taste the Jasmine tea." Emma Purshouse (Poet Laureate for the City of Wolverhampton). Nice when someone whose work I admire so much says such nice things about mine. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson. | ||
