While this is not a political forum, I know, I just have to say something about the chaos that occurred in our country yesterday. I am working from home these days and had several work calls yesterday, including hosting a Webinar at 2:00 pm, Central time, when we were in the thick of it and most were in front of their televisions watching the insurrection. We had about 80 guests from all over the country on the Webinar. The speaker on my Webinar began his presentation with a brief moment of silence to think about more peaceful times. It was scary, shocking and overwhelming. I am still not believing what happened.

Let's hope we'll have a peaceful transfer of power here in the U.S., like we always have - and which is the foundation of our country.

What a terrible way to start 2021 - after a horrible 2020.

I find it fascinating how various Trump supporting members of the administration have decided that this is enough to make them resign when anyone with integrity would have resigned weeks or months ago. Cynical old me thinks that they are abandoning the sinking ship in an attempt to avoid drowning with it.

I predict that the coming months will see dozens of people pleading “it wasn’t me, I didn’t support him, I tried to stop him, I only stayed to try to mitigate his excesses.”

I have a completely trivial question. If the 25th amendment were used to remove Donald Trump and Pence became caretaker president for the remaining few days would that make Pence 46 and Biden 47 or would Pence not count and Biden would still be 46?

I guess we don't have any Constitutional scholars on board. Very good question!

This thing bust open while a friend and I were in our mini-SpLit-class online with our Argentinian teacher. He has said more than once since November, "El mundo los esta mirando" (the world is watching you). He elaborated that this is particularly true of Latin Americans, who, as fellow former Euro Colonies, watch us closely to try to determine what democracy is capable of. He said this disturbance was all too reminiscent of similar LA political attacks which have resulted in sudden regime change...

To answer Bob, while not a constitutional scholar, I don't think that would count as being a president.

Why? Ford counted and if Trump had been forced out of office early the only difference would be the length of time the VP took over for.
