Breitbart is flipping out about it. This is what the university actually says, and it is completely reasonable: https://www.tacoma.uw.edu/univ...ogram/writing-center "For example, linguistic and writing research has shown clearly for many decades that there is no inherent “standard” of English. Language is constantly changing. These two facts make it very difficult to justify placing people in hierarchies or restricting opportunities and privileges because of the way people communicate in particular versions of English." They're just talking about literacy privilege. http://boingboing.net/2012/12/...ilege-or-why-gr.html

I don't read Breitbart, nor do I plan to, so I am not sure what the flipping out is about. That seems very reasonable to me - the descriptivist perspective.

"University of Washington Declares Proper Grammar Is Racist" is the headline on Breitbart and a few other sites have similar headlines. The articles are let's say a bit misleading.

I'd say so. Breitbart is about as truthful as our President.
