A review of The Gilded Tongue: Overly Eloquent Words for Everyday Things.
This book will be a favorite of anyone who is even a bit afflicted with logomania (a person obsessed with words) and even the most omnilegent (reading or having read everything) will find new words to add to their vocabulary. ... Any student of the English language ... will find "The Gilded Tongue" a feracious (producing abundantly) source of enjoyment and information. I highly recommend you go tantivy (in a headlong dash, at a gallop) to your colporteur (a peddler of books) and buy this wonderful book.
I went to Quinion's site the other day and saw a note about his book, entitled "Gallimaufry." It is about vanishing words, which I thought would be interesting. Has anyone read it?
