"Japan" can be a verb as well as a noun. "To japan" means to paint with a heavy lacquer.

For me, I have to have a 'joke' in mind, and sometimes I just draw a blank. I have never had a real creative mind, and these limericks are a real challenge to me.
You're right, Kalleh, Japan made for easy rhyming.
I was very impressed with these limericks. I thought no. one was just incredible. How you guys come up with these, I don't know. I'll keep working on them though. Maybe I'll hang up my hat (if and) after I get a vote.
