Thanks, Jo and arnie for the daffynitions. I guess we only will have your 2 and the real definition because no one else has sent me a daffynition! Come on, wordcrafters!

Changing the thread title to BLUFFING GAME - supeter might help. Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Oh, arnie, that's the problem. I wondered! I now have Jerry, Asa and Bob, but these are slow coming. I will edit the title then. Thanks!

Finally! Sorry for the delay: 1) (n) (Architecture) The inferior portion of the gusset that joins flying buttresses and redundant members. 2) A surgical position for the patient in which the feet are higher than the head; used primarily for neurological surgery. 3) Armo(u)r for the feet. 4) c.14thC A member of the Court currently in great favo(u)r with the reigning monarch. 5) A prong that holds a jewel in a setting. 6) Masonic word for a foundation stone; dates from the Middle Ages, from Latin "sub-" below, and "petr-", stone. Often used symbolically to refer to the members' faith in God, the foundation of Masonry. 7) Legal term for any higher ranking officer of the court. 8) An abbriviation of "saltpeter," or potassium nitrate. 9) Falling flat on one's back. 10) Alchemists' term for the chemical we know as sodium nitrate; less reactive than saltpeter, which is potassium nitrate.

I'll guess #9. Doad is off line until Sunday - can you wait to give the answers til he has time to guess? (a very direct request) ******* "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. ~Dalai Lama

I like 3 too but I like 5 better! EDIT: Let me refine that a little, now that I think a bit more about how people think: 1 and 6 are basically the same. Discard both. 2 and 9 ditto 4 and 7 too 8 and 10 also Hypothesis: similar entries were drawn by the same attempt at making up something reasonable-sounding and are betrayed by their duplication. Discard them all. That leaves only 3 and 5. (Go Back To Start) [I invariably narrow things down to just a couple of options, and then choose the wrong one...]This message has been edited. Hoping that means you'll get it wrong again, I'll choose 3. Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Possibly correct; the "draw" for #5 is that it suggests "support." I like the idea of it better anyway, not because it is or isn't "righter," but because it's more attractive. After all - this isn't about get-the-right-answer, it's about contrive-the-more-appealing-daffynition. Right?!

I was originally going to go for 5 because I liked it (it conjured up the prettiest image ), so, having no real idea, I'll stick with it. 5, please.

I have no idea what it means, but I like 1 and 5. I'll choose 1, which means it's probably 5. No, no, it's probably not either 1 or 5. Tinman

Last call for answers! I will post the correct one tomorrow, and we will see how Hab did on multiple choice questions. Bob, you definitely can have the next word!

Based on what I've found out about this game so far I now know it has to be number 3 because Arnie and Jo went for it but to keep in the spirit of the whole thing I'll go for number 1 instead. I just found that one really funny
