OK, folks, there it is - another odd little word! PM me or e-mail me at ama11285@hevanet.com

I have sent you a daffynition, Asa. And, I want to remind people that we can't use any dictionaries, even to fine tune a daffynition.

Thanks, Kalleh. Three daffynitions plus the right one so far. C'mon, people, get nutty, get creative, send 'em in! You new folks may jump right in!

Mine just went to you via PM, Asa.

I'll take definition nine. 'Tis the counterpart of "aglet." (Spelled backwards it's "prod.")

two Now, really, I am not following along with arnie's choice; I chose it before I saw the others. Really! However, arnie's choice did help me to solidify my answer!

Seven. | |||

Comments before the fact.: Definition two should lead to "thorp" rather than "dorp." I suppose linguistic evolution could be invoked... Definition four should lead to "gorp." Definition seven is so close to definition four as to invalidate both. For what it's worth. (I wouldn't be trying to change anyone's mind, now would I? Naah. Never happen.)

upon further reflection, can I change my vote to #2? I agree with Hab on #4 and #7... but since I flunked the phonetic portion of linguistics I have to believe I'm being led astray. (Gads, I hated phonetics. Almost cost me my degree!)
|
<Asa Lovejoy> |
Phonetics? What did the Phoenecians have to do with it? Did they trade in words? Well, Jo, I don't recall ever having someone change her vote before. Are you following along because arnie's often right? PM me and tell me why you think it's #2 and I'll consider your request!

Interesting word. I have no idea what it means, but I'll pick 7. Tinman

<Asa Lovejoy> |
Jo PMed me with such a logical explaination of her request for a change of vote that I have allowed it. She gets to choose #2. You'll get to know if you could actually call the village idiot a "dorp dork" tonight! Or maybe you'll be wearing that floppy coxcomb while eating some vile rations, orrr.... Come on, Karl, give us your vote!
<Asa Lovejoy> |
Here are the definitions: 1. Karl Fooled nobocy 2. The correct definition Gotten by arnie (of course!) Kalleh, and Jo 3. Bob Hale Fooled nobody 4. Haberdasher Fooled nobody 5. Kaleh Fooled nobody 6. arnie Fooled Bob Hale 7. Jo Fooled Jerry, Cat, and Tinman 8. Jerry Thomas Fooled nobody 9. KHC Fooled Haberdasher 10. Cat Fooled KHC Dorp is a Dutch version of "thorp," and is also akin to "dorf" in German. So, the village idiot COULD be the dorp dope! In future, please don't second-guess your answers in print or change your minds. I think some may have been swayed by after-voting comments. What do the rest of you think? Now, wholl take the next round?
