Hi Dianthus, it's a pun on the American slang phrase, "Who's yer daddy?" as in "sugar daddy". As for "Hoosier", see here.

I remember a Northwestern University/University of Indiana basketball game where the lilly white Northwestern fans were taunting the visiting Indiana basketball team, which was mostly composed of African-American players. The fans were chanting "Who's yer Daddy?" Isn't it considered a racist phrase? BTW, welcome Jaguar!

Boy, Kalleh . . . it might have started as a racist phrase, but I don't think it's used in that context anymore at all. I think it's usually used as a declaration meaning something along the lines of "who has control over you?" or "who's gonna take care of you?"(in many senses, but often with a sexual connotation) Here are the lyrics to a great song asking this question, by Toby Keith: Here you come knockin’ on my door baby Tell me what you got on your mind I guess those college boys all went home for the summertime And you’re lookin’ right, lookin’ good, lookin’ like a woman should So why is it so hard to find A place to lay your pretty little head down once in a while You run on a little tough luck baby Don’t you sweat it Everything is waiting inside for you You know I got it Come and get it Who’s your daddy, who’s your baby? Who’s your buddy, who’s your friend? And who’s the one guy that you come runnin’ to When your lovelife starts tumblin’? I got the money if you got the honey Let’s cut a deal let’s make a plan Who’s your daddy, who’s your baby? Who’s your buddy, who’s your man? You might’ve run on a little tough luck baby Don’t you sweat it Everything is waiting inside for you You know I got it So come and get it Who’s your daddy, who’s your baby? Who’s your buddy, who’s your man? ******* "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. ~Dalai Lama

CW, the term "Who's yer daddy" is very much considered racist around the Chicago area...now. That situation that had occurred at Northwestern University happened a few years ago and was reported throughout the midwest. If I recall, Northwestern apologized for its students. I tried to find a report of the article in Google news, but couldn't. The racist point is that African-Americans often don't know who their daddy is. You can see why it is considered racist!

Well . . . I had never thought of it as racist. That is new to me, Kalleh! Ah well, I can be very naive sometimes, eh? ******* "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. ~Dalai Lama

The element of Racism could be eliminated entirely if the explanation of "Hoosier daddy?" were to refer to the promiscuous activity of Indiana women. On the other hand, it could include all human beings. Perhaps it's best forgotten.

Searching for a way to use the word "hoosier" for the benefit of mankind while avoiding mention of Lust, Racism, and Sexism, our R&D Dept came up with a potential bumper sticker for a body-weight-reduction campaign: "Hoosier Fat Friend?"

Interesting. As I was surfing the Web, looking at other word sites and Blogs, I found a discussion about "Who's yer daddy." This article in the Washington Post talks about the sexual aspects. This phrase evidently has many meanings!
