MelodyAs always, I have been trying to sing my way out of this one....
When you hit rock bottom
You've got two ways to go
Straight up and sideways
I have seen my share of hard times
And I'm letting you know
Straight up is my wayfrom "Rock Bottom"

MorganHere's a song that describes "rock bottom"...
That's Rock Bottom
When this life makes you mad enough to kill
That's Rock Bottom
When you want something bad enough you'll steal
That's Rock Bottom
When you feel you have had it up to here
Cause you mad enough to scream but you sad enough to tearfrom

nothingness threadSpecifically about "nadir"--it is also a medical term used by oncology specialists to indicate the lowest point that the blood count (especially white blood cells) will reach when patients are on chemotherapy. Obviously, the nadir can be a very dangerous point for the patient. In itself, I think "nadir" is an interesting word.
