Goofy and Z may know this, as may arnie, but they can surely concoct a very good daffynition! So, have at it, y'all! PM me a daffynition!

There's a medical usage for the term, Kalleh, so you may have seen it.

Got yours, arnie - thanks!

I've now got one more, but still too few. If I don't get any more by tomorrow, I'll make up a couple and post them.

Annnnd the wiener is:

1. A Greek dybbuk

Haberdasher's entry #1. Nobody sprang for it.

2. Narcissistic; feeling like one is the center of the universe.

Kalleh's contrivance. No takers.

3. A pseudo-intellectual word, describing the jerking movements made by a car when the transmission needs servicing (or the clutch is used ineptly)

Habberdasher's second effort, again fooling nobody.

4. Self-harming, usually as a result of substance abuse.

arnie's submission, which arnie picked. Hmmmm... trying to throw us off, are we? :-)

5. A form of radical therapy which chemically removes or inhibits malignant thoughts from those with a severe psychosis, similar to brainwashing.

Proofreader's brainstorm here.

6. Existing at its point of origin, indigenous.

The real thing. Hab, B35 and Kalleh all got it.

7. self-sustaining fishery (Greco-Roman, first use recorded 16thc. England)

B35's suggestion.

8. Self-deprecating, as in humour.

zmježd submitted this one, duping Proofreader.

9. Self-replicating.

No-one submitted this one - it just appeared spontaneously, but Tinman picked it.

10. In throat singing, the sustaining base pitch.

My own submission, which Bea liked.

Kudos to those who knew it, and to those who knew but pretended they didn't! :-)

Bea, if you want to have a go at this, just find an obscure word that appears in any English dictionary, and post it. We'll PM you with "daffynitions," fanciful definitions. You then post them, plus the real one, and see what happens.

I am beginning to think we should have a deadline for these games, like 2 weeks or something. Small Dole is taking forever, too. I don't think it makes a lot of difference if we don't have a long list of entries. I'd much rather go on to the next game. Am I crazy?

As a big fan of the Mongolian band Hanggai:

10. In throat singing, the sustaining base pitch.

Bea, I'm very pleased to find another throat singing lover! Have you seen this movie? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0187859/

Anyhow, the results shall follow shortly.
