The googlewhack game is to find two words which, when plugged into the Google search engine, will produce one and only one hit. It's apparently popular enough that "googlewhack" yields over about 5,400 Google hits.
when I cut and pasted that into my google, I got 2 hits! One question, do the words have to be side by side on the hit? For example, if I put in "big pig" I will get all the sites that have those 2 words together, also, all the sites that contain those 2 words in separate places.
I gave this a shot, but ended up at a site that has some verrrrry interesting content, including "The Swear Word of The Day." http://archive.3-am.com/ No points for me regarding Googlewhacking, but maybe points for whacking in other ways.
Yeah, yeah, and neither is "wordcraft". I forgot about that aspect of the game. Darn! I never have been good at games; did you see how I was completely duped in that "easiest quiz" thread? I thought "easiest" meant easiest!
Anyway, I found 2 more to make up for it:
blowsy....bradypnea (Thank God for my medical background!

From the first post here Tadpole: "The arbiter of "what is a word" is dictionary.com." So I guess that Wordcraft hasn't made it as a word in dictionary.com.

I was going to offer an alternative way to play this game but I find that I cannot even come close to winning it myself. Maybe other brighter wordcrafters will have more success.
On the assumption that it wasn't all that difficult to googlewack large obscure words together to produce one-hit findings (which I now also find is not the case) I was going to challenge you all to find the shortest two word pairing that provided this same result.
After wasting some 15 minutes of my life in this pursuit (though, of course, it wouldn't have been a waste had I been successful) the best I came up with was "gnu adz" which still had over 700 hits! If the 6-letter "gnu adz" still comes in at triple digits, I give up.
Jerry, I tried hard to find a word with jerry (yes, jerry is in dictionary.com; it is British slang for a German, especially a German soldier.) However, the closest I could come was 2 sites.
Jerry, if this were a contest (who can Google the 2 most common words and find only one citation), I believe you would win! I am surprised that there is only 1 citation for that.
"Mobilized language" gives one hit if enclosed in quotes (i.e. if the words need to appear together in that order) but 72,500 hits if they are not enclosed in quotes (i.e. a full search for both words appearing anywhere).
Thanks Bob, for pointing out that I am guilty of violating the RULES.
Nolo contendere.
My only excuse is ignorance ...
If you can direct me to the proper dropping-off place with my truckload of awards, diplomas, certificates, and trophies, I'll reluctantly but righteously relinquish them.
Thanks again, smartass!

Interestingly, I have found that sometimes the Google sites change within a few seconds. While it seems like I put in the exact same words in the exact same ways, I will sometimes come up with a different number of links.
There is a British comedian called Dave Gorman who has a style that people either love or hate. His first TV series for example followed his adventures as he travelled all over the world trying to meet other people named Dave Gorman.
On Monday I went to see him in his new one man show "Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure" in which he told the story of how he attempted (albeit inadvertantly at first) to form a chain of meetings with ten consecutive "Googlewhacks" i.e people whose websites can be found via a Googlewhack. Each time he met one they had to find him two possible followers. Each time he hit a dead end (a dead link, an uncontactable web site owner or someone who didn't want to play) he had to start again.
For anyone who likes Dave Gorman it was a trully hilarious show - the funniest since "Are You Dave Gorman ?" and much better than "The Important Astrological Experiment."
The guy is quite clearly insane. Go to see the show if you live in England, weep that you missed it if you don't.
I agree wholeheartedly about Dave Gorman. I loved "Are You Dave Gorman?" on BBC TV and enjoyed "The Important Astrological Experiment" slightly less, although it was still good.
I also agree that people either love or hate his style. I was staying with my brother and sister-in-law and, since I'd seen a couple of earlier episodes, I suggested we watch "Are You Dave Gorman?" one evening. They'd not seen it before. They just did not "get it". All through they were asking, "But why is he taking all this trouble? Why is he telling us about it in such detail?"
