That's a harder rhyme than it looks. The syllable before Miller's Creek needs to be stressed for metre and I always find sticking an adjective in there (eg A young man from old Miller's Creek) feels like cheating. I shall work on it. 'Twas Shu's and not mine, though he has already come up with some good ones, at least in my opinion.

Hey - how's about sending me some limericks, people? I have zero at this point, tho there are a few in my head that I've been thinking about.
|
Member |
Since my head is empty, there are none in it. Besides, my disruptiveness has probably chased others away. Geoff, standing in corner, wearing a dunce cap.

You haven’t chased others away. I assume it’s just summer’s beautiful weather. Would love an entry or two tho, please?

How's about a few more? Hab?

I decided that the one I wrote isn't good enough to be considered. I am trying to rework it.

I liked it! Well, where are these limericks, folks? I only have a handful, and therefore I might have write a bunch - and you know where that will leave us.

It isn't much different, and not better. I really can't write limericks!!!

I'll be off the Web for a week -- not to worry.

Kalleh, did you get my two limericks?
|

I did get the limericks, Sattva, and I got Hab's as well. Shu is conjuring one up, and I will too. I have been telling Shu that his venue is not an easy one to rhyme. In the next game, everyone will have to vote for mine because I choose easy ones!

I can NOT rhyme it! | |||

Just rhyme creek "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Here in the states, creek can be pronounced to rhyme with week or Dick. I rhymed it with week. Is there any difference in how you have heard it pronounced, Bob? Just curious.

Has to rhyme with week here. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Geoff, these are fun - not perfect. I'll give everyone til the end of the weekend. Shu is thinking...
|

Well, I was able to eek out another one; and surprisingly, I like this one, ---finally!
|
Member |
I did too! So - Shu said he’d get me one tomorrow so I’ll delay the posts a day. I know I had said I hoped he didn’t write one this time because he wins so much, still, the more the merrier, right?!

Right! | |||

It looks like "you know who" needs another day. He is working on one... <sigh>

Eek? Did it scare you? Will it scare me? Or did you mean eke? I hope it's "eke," 'cause I scare easily, and then I leak! (eek!)

Eke I have never been a good speller.

Got it and all the rest (including Shu's!). I am about to post them. FYI, for all of you that put an apostrophe in "Miller's", I've removed it because Millers Creek, North Carolina, does not have one. Thank you all!
