Here are the limited number of Kalorama (either AUS or USA based) limericks:

Question:
1
Near Mt Dandenong, Kalorama
Is home to one hot Aussie mama.
Her moves are celestial,
And if you lean bestial--
For a fee-- she'll add sheep, goat or llama.

2
On a hill in Kalorama
Millie lay with Kahn Osama.
In just one stroke
His rubber broke.
Now they call Miss Millie, "Mama!"

3
A national leader, Obama,
Who lives near the rich Kalorama,
Is running for the president.
Why was he hesitant,
During the first debate drama?

4
On the hill called Kalorama
Ogden Nash's silk pajama
slipped and fell!
Oh, Bloody Hell!
It's there he saw a three "L" lllama!

5
An stone-mason from Kalorama
Built art that disturbed the town's calm - a
Sculpture not shown as,
But thereafter known as,
The Kalorama phallus drama!

6
Searching for the wise Gautama,
Willie went to Kalorama.
He found instead
A maid, abed,
Now Willie's willie's in Nirvana.

7
Said a husband from near Kalorama
To his wife, "Please let's not have this drama!"
There are no taboos,
I'll do what you choose -
But will you - or will I - wear the armour?"

So vote for your favourite now.

Choices:
1
2
3
4
5
6
7

Regards Greg

Hi Folks,

The author of No. 4 intended for the following explanatory text to be added, so here it is:

Parody of Ogden Nash's "The Lama:"

The one-l lama,
He's a priest;
The two-l llama,
He's a beast.
And I will bet
A silk pajama
There isn't any
Three-l lllama.

Are you going to declare #1 the winner? Obvious nobody else cares to vote.

Um... I actually VOTED for #4 but it doesn't seem to have registered (I think I would have been the 4th vote). Should I try again?

I messed up a line in mine. Had not intended an extra "the." Oh well.

Bethree, yes, try to vote again. It may not let you, though. We'll just consider 4 to have an extra vote, if you can't get it to register.

I voted for #1 only because it was the only funny one I didn't write, but I can NOT get it to scan right. Confused

I found I needed to stress "mount" in L1 - which is not all that natural but the line does work when you do it.

maybe we can appeal to the general [non-limerick-submitting] populace for a bigger turnout? patriotic duty, etc

The way I look at it is, even if I don't much like any of the limericks, I still pick the one I like the best.

OK - we have a clear winner and it is Bethree5.

All the even limericks are Geoff's. Thanks Geoff without yours we would only have had 4.

1 was Betrhee5, 3 was Kalleh, 5 was me and 7 was Richard.

Had I needed to vote to split a tie and Richard's No 7 was in the tie, I would probably have voted for it, but I did like B35's too.

In fact, having re-read mine I realise I could have made L2 scan better by writing it as:

To his wife, "Please don't let's have drama!"

But Bethree's limerick is a worthy winner.

Two things about mine:

1) There is a Kalorama in Washington DC;
2) There shouldn't be a "the" in the third line, which was important to me anyway.

B35's limerick made me think she was writing a bawdy parody of a Gilbert & Sullivan opera, "HMS Pornafore!" Big Grin Despite my struggling with its rhyme, great fun!

Wow! I think this is only the 2nd time I've won in 5yrs of participation. I'm feeling like the Democrats right now.

I love the workshopping going on in comments, we should keep that up. We can get them nice & shiny before the next time BobH publishes a chapbook. I disliked my "MOUNT Dan-de-NONG" scan. Thought of "In DAN-de-nong RANGE", but it seems the correct term is "Ranges."

Will post new location promptly. Meanwhile could one of you experts pliz PM me instructions on how to use the "poll" application?
