Since there's a lull in the limericks I'll keep the wordplay section going with this word. Send me a fake, fanciful, fraudulent, or frivolous daffynition by PM - and DON'T look up the real meaning! It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. -J. Krishnamurti

I have daffynitions from three of you so far - all very good! Keep 'em coming! It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. -J. Krishnamurti

Here are the results: 1. A dermabrasion or exfoliant instrument. My own effort to skin someone. Didn't rub anyone the right way. 2. An acolyte; a follower. The right one. Usually it's an inferior, not an equal, say the dictionaries. Arnie and Tinman knew it. 3. What a fencer says when he realizes his sword is missing. Proofreader tried to stick someone with his rapier wit, to no avail. 4. A poem concerned with death and destruction. Proofreader's, who fooled Kalleh, Bob, and bethree5. 5. A cozy nook. Zmježd's submission. Nobody cozied up to it. 6. The empty feeling after joy in another's misfortune has faded. Obviously written for Kalleh, by bethree5. 7. A model of filial devotion B35 again. 8. The child of an incestuous union And again. 9. A drama term for the character who resolves the entanglements by supernatural intervention. Kalleh's version of Deus Ex Machina, I suppose. 10. A eulogy that is written, but not necessarily delivered orally at a funeral. Arnie's scholrly-sounding submission 11. The world's first virtual porcine entity. Bob's submission. Was he thinking of Pink Floyd? 12. Someone with a severe allergy who has lost his Epinephrine Auto-Injector Bob's again 13. A medical sub-dermal injector used to insert drugs under the skin. Bob one more time! 14. A recently discovered Greek tragedy possibly by Aeschylus. If pronounced as four syllables, it kinda sounds plausible - except I made it up. There you have it - now what? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Geoff, It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. -J. Krishnamurti

You sure got a lot in a short time! I could swear I knew it, until those daffys. My inclination is to take #6 because I think it was meant for me. But, I'll take #4.

Proof, You should still enter even if you know the real answer. You don't have to give the proper definition, just vote! I'll try 2. Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

And what particular advantage accrues if I vote? If I vote for the one I know, it means nothing. Should I vote for one I know is wrong, I look stupid.

I get another voter! Vote early; vote often! Only two votes so far. Where is everybody? BTW, two of the stupid ones are the ones I added. It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. -J. Krishnamurti

I'll guess 2. I'd like to believe it was 14, but, I don't think so.

It actually means "the first virtual porker." E-pig-one

You mean as in number 11? "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Somehow 'epigone' suggests a rather extreme exfoliation therapy...

11. The world's first virtual porcine entity. (porcine = pig-like = porker first = first virtual = virtual) As no one is likely to vote for this definition I think I can safely out myself as thiinking e-pig-one when I wrote it. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Sorry, Bob. I completely missed that reference and never noticed that my post duplicated your entry.

Oh, heck. I should have known what acolyte meant! I was a little surprised that Bob was fooled by proof's submission since it was about poetry.

When I don't know I tend to pick at random. (or, to put it another way, I always pick at random. ) "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Ah, that makes sense. I, on the other hand, try my darndest, and yet I always seem to get it wrong anyway.
