Hab, have a great trip! Mine is in, too, though no one has chosen a definition of mine for decades!

Does anyone else have a daffynition to submit? I'll post what I have Wednesday night.

Peristerophily: (I forgot to number these the first time around) 1. A love of change or alteration.(Bob Hale) Kalleh chose this one. 2. A love of grandiose, Classical architecture. (Cat didn't fool anyone) 3. Being in love with a friend. (nor did Caterwauller) 4. Love of the outdoors (characterizes members of the Sierra Club). (ditto Haberdasher) 5. The occupation of historians specializing in cities on the Seine, particularly the French capital. (This was Jerry's definition, and Caterwauller fell for it) 6. A love of, or collecting of, pigeons. **This was the real McCoy, guessed by Arnie, Jo, and Jerry Asa told me Arnie would get it right. 7. Enjoying being squeezed or hugged. This was Arnie's definition, voted for by Asa, because he loves being squeezed or hugged by Sunflower. 8. The study of fluid transport in plants. This was Asa's definition, and both Cat and Haberdasher voted for it. Good job, Asa! 9. A large blue flower seen in the southeastern part of the United States. Bob Hale voted for this definition by Kalleh. 10.A love of Perister Park and Mt. Perister, located southwest of Macedonia and a perennial favorite of many tourists, mostly from Greece and Italy. This was Jo's definition. Don't feel bad, Jo - no one voted for mine either (see #11). 11.A fondness for persimmons and similar fruits. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Sunflower,

Purely because it's almost the only one that doesn't have the idea of love in the definition and so must by wrong, I'll go for 9. (Peris, Paris? I think not.) "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

6 for me, please. Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

I have no idea, but liking history, I'll take 5. ******* "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. ~Dalai Lama

Now that I think of it, if it were "love of..." something, it should have been -philia, not -ophily. Which leaves only 5, 8, and 9. I like the one about fluid transport. Number 8 for me !

OK - I'm still learning how to do this. I edited my original list of definitions, so please look for it up on the list a ways.

Great word, Sunflower! I chose Bob's word, and he chose mine; I always knew that he and I were on the same wavelength! Is there a word for "love of change?" There should be! Wordcrafter's word today was immobilism, which is resistance to change. Who's up next?

I recently found an interesting word, but I've submitted one recently, soooo, I'll wait and see if someone else jumps in. If not.....
