Here are the entries. Please post vote & any comments in your reply. 1.“Trieste” can be two-part or three- Just phonate that terminal -e T’would let some rapscallion Say “Sounds more Italian” - It really don’t matter to me. 2.“There was a young girl from Trieste Whose (you fill it in!) was the best...” And it ought to be blue, Scatologic, or true Just as long you say it in jest. 3. Da mighty cruiser, Triest-a Was-a said Italia's best-a Torpedo no sink-a But-a US-a fink-a Bombed 'er right into the drink-a (the Trieste) 4. There once was a girl of Trieste Whose dress didn't cover her chest But it didn't much matter Since there aren't many flatter But her fica* they say was the best! *Italian slang for "girl parts," probably from "ficus," fig. 5. Said a lady returned to Trieste From the gardens of old Villa d'Este “Don’t come see me at home, For I’m just back from Rome, And I know that I don’t look my best, eh?!” 6.I once knew a girl named Celeste Who lived in seaport, Trieste. Her kisses were sexy; Her moves were so flexi! Her breasts were decidedly best! 7.I once knew a gal from Trieste Who overdid every fiesta She’d drink herself silly, Bed Gianni and Lele, Then take an extended siesta. 8.There once was a man from Trieste Who liked to go shopping undressed The matrons all freaked And little girls shrieked So now he goes out in a vest. 9.Four weeks we write lims on “Trieste” Our Wordcrafter’s work is the best. In two days we will vote (When we see what we wrote) And then we can give it a rest!

I'll go with #2, although I got a good chuckle from #s 1, 6 and 7. #4 was clearly Proofreader reincarnated. #1 was different enough to be delightful in its originality.

I'll go for 2 also. And I did like 1 but it fails on the technical matter of not having Trieste as the rhyme. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

I'll go for #4 - Proof reincarnated. I've found that I often don't vote for the ones everyone else likes. We all have different tastes, I guess.

I'll take 8. 6 is nice, but Line 5 is a letdown - sorta anti-climactic 7 is nice but the -e of Lele doesn't rhyme with the y of silly, in my Italian. But WDIK. Rhythm, rhyme, or authorship keep me from voting for the others. (Just realized: one problem might be that for me "aren't" is a two-syllable word.)

Nice job, everyone! We have all writer’s votes except mine (see below) PLUS Bob’s—thanks Bob! I never can remember if host is supposed to vote or not [is that even an issue, as long as we don’t vote for our own?] – but in this case, it doesn’t matter, because #2, which already has 2 votes, is also my fave. Here’s the recap: 1.“Trieste” can be two-part or three-... By haberdasher, no votes 2.“There was a young girl from Trieste.. by hab, THE WINNER: Votes: Geoff, Bob [& bethree5] 3.
