How are we doing on this? Is it close to being enough to vote?

We're doing well. Here we go, folks!

The REAL definition of culet is:

1) A gourmet tool for tearing lettuce.

2) A very short line (Br.).

3) The flat face on the bottom of a gemstone.

4) French insult.

5) A knife

6) A lunging technique with a sword.

7) A type of ballet movement that involves a spin.

8) A cutting technique in French cooking.

9) Verb. To scratch until the skin breaks and begins bleeding.

10) A cross between shorts and a skirt.

11) Noun. The piece of a knights armour that protects the elbow.

12) Clothing similar to the 1950's pedal pushers.

13) The species of mosquito responsible for spreading encephalitis and occasionally Avian malaria.

14) Underpants. From Fr. slang, cul, "ass".

15) A tight hair curl.

16) An ingenue.

17) A small pothole

Let's vote, people! Just post here your selection, and we always like to hear why...or any comments you might have.

It's a chicken cutlet that wasn't cooked to a "t".

I know the actual def.

I still prefer proper polls but I'll go for number 6.

Yes, next time select the correct one and you'll win! But - I suppose you'd give it away if you were to do it this time.

Yes, Bob, I prefer the proper polls, too. Do we usually do them with the Bluffing Game though? I thought not.

Please vote people - and if you know it, just select the correct answer. Guess it right, and you'll win a free golfing weekend at Mar a Lago, courtesy of Donald. Wink

11?

I think Sattva's right, but then "armour" is the British spelling. Hmmmm... Still, I'll vote for 11.

I'm going for #3, the flat face on the bottom of a gemstone.

How's about the rest of you? Let's have some more votes!

What a lovely set of choices!

Lessee, now. Thinking out loud:
-- So much French!
-- 6 sounds nice, but Bob has already voted for that one
-- 7 is trying to snag votes by evoking pirouette.
-- 10 and 12 ditto culottes (if I spelled it right)
-- 11 ditto French for elbow is "coude."
-- 14 - ditto, only the French "cul" is more properly "anus" rather than "ass." There's even a schoolboys' exercise on how to pronounce the sound of U that goes "Tu pus du cul nu," whose translation is left as an exercise for the reader.
-- 15 ditto cul <--> curl.
-- 16 ditto - sounds like a smarmy bit of argot, like calling a woman a "slot" (or worse)
-- I think I'll give 17 a vote, because it's a hole in the road, a vertical cul-de-sac, as it were, an opening with no exit, and nobody's voted for it yet..

OK. 17 it is.

(Offer can be taken any time after 2025 when global warming has put the entire golf course under water.)

On that very subject (kinda): "Uranus Smells Terrible...."

There was a joke on this theme in one of the Harry Potter books, IIRC. Meant to demonstrate how sophomoric adolescent student wizards can be (just like adolescent muggles).

[addendum: "Puerile" would have been a better word]

Then there's the puerile joke, "How is the starship Enterprise like a roll of toilet paper?"
