We probably already have a thread on quotes, but I wanted to start a new one. We are publishing a booklet for new nurses, and I loved this quote our Marketing person found: The nurse is temporarily the consciousness of the unconscious, the love of life for the suicidal, the leg of the amputee, the eyes of the newly blind, a means of locomotion for the infant, the knowledge and confidence of the young mother, and a voice for those too weak to speak.

Ahem...we do a bit more than that, Proof. But I do realize we are seen by the public as the physician's handmaiden - still. It's our own fault. We don't blow our horns enough. I think it's partly because we are a highly female profession, and women are not as quick to sell themselves as men are.
