This is not aimed at either side in the border wall argument, just an observation in general... If the Democrats have offered 1.3 billion dollars for 55 miles of wall/barrier (as has been widely reported) doesn't that mean that a 2000 mile wall would cost around 50 billion rather than the 5 billion that President Trump claims? There has certainly been talk that the $5.7 B is just a down payment. The whole conversation is ludicrous, really, especially since illegal immigrants crossing the borders has decreased (hardly a national emergency). Additonally, drugs come to the states thru legal points of entry, while most of our opiates (a real emergency here) come to us from China. The word discussion here, I think, is the definition of "emergency." My dictionary says: "A serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action." Clearly that does not apply to what we're seeing at the border. Many of the border cities, in fact, don't even want the border. | |||
