After listening to the news today probably the most famous eponymous person nowadays popped into my head: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Kalashnikov
Not someone to sing about - but I do wonder about his poetry.

Does that really count? Most people call it an "AK", rather than a Kalashnikov. At least Thompson's was a "Tommy" gun. Funny how many weapons are known by the maker's name -- Colt, Browning, Deringer, Smith & Wesson, Bowie, Maxim, Gatling, Hotchkiss, Luger, Remington, Lewis, Winchester...

Uzi (invented by Major Uziel Gal, IDF), Mauser (Wilhelm and Paul Mauser), Husqvarna (from the town in which the factory was established), HK (Hechler & Koch) and many more.

Interesting. The only contact I've had with guns is the news and current affairs programmes and it's always referred to as a Kalahnikov, or sometimes an AK47. I have never heard "AK".

Depends on what creeps you are associated with. Like in many areas around here you wouldn't say you owned a Glock, but had a "nine".

I know my list wasn't all-inclusive. There are just too many and my computer was running out of ink.
