Not a good choice of words...
Speaking about the issues being experienced by the new Boeing 787 airliner a talking head on the TV news said "Ground-breaking new planes almost always have initial problems."

Not the best choice of metaphor!

One might even say, planes that break the ground ALWAYS have problems, final as well as initial. Those talking heads! Roll Eyes
