Given that this forum is subtitled Miscellany: a combination of incongruous things; a miscellaneous anthology or collection. it seems an especially appropriate place for this. I've recently started noticing a trend in signwriting for lists that include items that don't logically belong. For example just last night above a cafe I saw this "Chips, burgers, kebabs, lunches" Now to my mind you can't put lunch in this list because it doesn't "fit" with the other items. Others I've seen recently include "Shirts, trousers, skirts, jackets, Nike" and "Beer, WIne, Spirits, Vodka". Two questions. Am I the only one who finds this odd? Has anyone seen any other examples? (They actually remind me of a kind of IQ test question that you see. The ones that say "Which item does not belong in this list: red, yellow, blue, colour, green".) "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Bob, I agree with you that I'd find it quite odd. I haven't seen it here, though. Has anyone else?
