The "rainbow" thread reminded me of the old trick for remembering, in order, the colors of the rainbow. You need only remember the name Roy G. Biv. Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet What other mnemonic tricks can we share?

Great thread hic! I always thought the funniest mnemonic I ever heard was: Fat Cows Get Dizzy After Eating Barley! (That is the order of flats in a key signature in music!)

We learned the colours of the rainbow with the mnemonic Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain. Another, multilingual one, was for German prepositions taking the accusative case. Durch, für, gegen, ohne, um, wider - Does Fire Go Out Under Water. Of course as wider is seldom heard and the mnemonic misses out bis and entlang it isn't really a very good one. si hoc legere scis nimium eruditiones habes Read all about my travels around the world here.
