Someone sent me a link to an episode of Weakest Link. (I don't know why.)

The first question was "In the music genre R&B, R&B is an abbreviation for 'Rhythm and...' what?

The answer given was "Soul" which is bad enough in itself but the contestant was Tony Blackburn who has been a DJ since his days on Radio Caroline in 1964

I always thought the "B" in R & B stood for Blues which to my mind is not really the same thing as Soul qua a music genre. But, then again, I get the "joke" such as it was.

Apparently he later said that he was really nervous and his mind went blank so that he just blurted out the first word that came into his head.

I suppose we should be happy that we didn't end up with Rhythm and Banana.
