Someone recommended a Progressive Metal band called "Protest The Hero" to me. I don't think they would be to the taste of many here but I liked them. The only reason I mention it is because it's the only time I've heard the word "bloviate" in a heavy metal song. (Their song called Hair Trigger).

According to Quinion , bloviate is almost entirely a U.S. word. Is it not used in the U.K.?

I've never seen it used here. I looked them up and apparently Protest the Hero is a Canadian band, so the word has some currency outside the USA.

You are missing out on a fantastic word. I love bloviate.
