Bah! Mad

I created a new topic in Potpourri about this half an hour ago; I suppose I should have checked first.

I've deleted my post since it contained more or less the same information.

Oops! I hadn't recalled this when I started a similar thread here. Here's a helpful link mentioned there.
... good antedates can be found simply from Googles News-Archive, selecting appropriate dates. ... (Don't worry if the cite you find is to a paid-subscription-only source. No doubt OED can get into that source.)

OED has go bananas (1968-70)*
Antedate to 1967:
The Lima News (Newspaper) - August 3, 1967, Lima, Ohio
    Subscription - Lima News - NewspaperArchive - Aug 3, 1967
It's the newest, most exciting thing in the cosmetic world and you'll go bananas over the waterproof, postively smearproof, all-over body make-up.
Edit: a bit further, via newspaperarchive.com (paid service):
If I didn't take a couple of drinks on Sundays, when I'm cooped up alone in those small-town motels, I'd go bananas.

Edit: antedate as above, to 1946: It's a mixture of tomato juice, vodka and Tabasco sauce, aptly tagged a Bloody Mary cocktail. - Syracuse Herald Journal, 21 Apr. 1946, p.20 col.5

EDIT: Taking it back a bit further:
The Fresno Bee, Feb. 6, 1944:
A group of Fulton Street "scientists" report that at last they have identified and isolated the female version of the wolf whisttle--that often heard call used by men of the armed forces when their trail crosses that of the opposite sex.
