Just drove home behind a bus with a large advert for a martial arts school on the back. It said

Adults' and Children's Beginners Classes

Well done on the apostrophes for Adults' and Children's but shouldn't there be one in Beginners too?

I suppose that depends on whether they are classes for beginners or whether beginners is the type of class (beginners being an adjective in that instance.)

I would have said "Beginner" classes.

I would have misread it as "marital arts" and been utterly confused, apostrophes or no.

I think it's an adjective and deserves no apostrophe.
