Last week "quaquaversal" was one of tsuwm's words of the day. I wondered if there was another word with 2 "qu" sequences in them. I tried the pattern sequence of onelook, and couldn't find another (though that only goes through 1,000 words...yes, I have no life! ) Does anyone know of another word with 2 "qu" sequences? I probably am forgetting an obvious one! I think quaquaversal could be a useful word. I can assure you that I have many colleagues who are quaquaversal in meetings! From tsuwm's site: "the worthless word for the day is: quaquaversal /kway kwuh VER sal/ [fr. L. quaqua, wheresoever + versus, towards] mainly Geol., turning or dipping in any or all directions 'If the beds dip away in all directions from a centre they are said to have a quaquaversal dip.' - A.H. Green, Physical Geology (1877) thus, through transferal: 'Stop being so quaquaversal -- you're going off in all directions at once!'" -tsuwmThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Kalleh,

Well, anything with quinque in it: Quinquagesima, quinquangular, quinquarticular, quinqueangled, quinquedentate, quinquefid, quinquefoliate, quinquelocular, quinquennial, etc. I can't think of anything outside that group, with separated q's. I always liked the bantustan of Basotho Qwaqwa for its name.

Qwaqwa I like that word, too, but it sure gives my left pinky an uncharateristic workout while typing! I had to look up 3 different words, aput - thanks for keeping me on my toes! ******* "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. ~Dalai Lama

I've got to mention my favourite Maltese word, qroqqa 'brooding hen'. The Q is a glottal stop.

Ah...you see the problem was that the 1,000 words ended at the "quads." I should have remembered the "quinqu" words, though. Can't say that I've heard of qroqqa, but sometimes I suppose I can be one! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kalleh,
