I was recently at a conference where one of the speakers used the word "gemelon." It has something to do with music. I have checked dictionary.com and onelook and Google and can't seem to find it. Now, it may come from another language. Has anyone seen this word before?

It would be either gamelon or gamelan. It is the music of Java. Try this site for more information: http://www.joglosemar.co.id/gamelan.html

A gamalon is actually an orchestra and not a single kind of instrument. I'm sure you've heard its music somewhere on a movie soundtrack or commercial.

The "gemelon" is the hybrid off-spring of a male gecko and a female watermelon. They are always sterile and extremely rare in large part due to the gecko's innate difficulty in determining the gender of anything in the melon family. (No, really...)
