<Proofreader>Misuse?
Some of the regular contributors to YouTube have begun to ask for donations to finance their channels under a term called "patreonage."
I can't find that in any dictionary and wonder if the person who inaugurated the plan misspelled "patronage".

I don't understand where the "blend" comes in since the trailer only seems to mention "patron", not "patreon", unless I missed it. Why was it necessary to coin a new word when the old one was perfectly valid?
One of the more ironic things about the "patreonage" idea on YouTube is that it has been championed by bloggers about religious hucksters. They've complained about televangelists bilking the masses through infomercials but now use the same methods to line their own pockets.

Probably because 'Patreon' can be trademarked.
