shufitz"the dozens"
This from an article about Paramount Pictures firing actor Tom Cruise for his strange behavior:
A Tom Cruise is not a dime a dozen, but a Tom Cruise is at risk if he starts acting like the dozens.
The phrase is new to me. In context I can guess at its meaning, but can anyone pin it down with more authority?

jerry thomasA wise old poultry farmer comes to mind. "My hens lays eggs So Big it takes only nine of 'em to make a dozen," he said. But that has nothing whatsoever to do with
The dozens.

KallehI haven't heard of it, but I did find this interesting piece about "playing the
dozens being an expression used by African Americans. I hadn't heard that one, either.
