What words are going to emerge from this horrible pandemic? While coronavirus has been a word, it surely will be popularized. Of course no one will forget the term COVID-19 for years to come. Novel coronavirus. Others? Flattening the curve Lockdown has been a word, but it has been popularized Shelter in place Social distancing

Geez, I expected some more words from people. I guess the Trumpster has one: Hydroxychloroquine Can anyone believe that one?

I did hear one commentator suggest sarcastically that Trump hasn't mispronounced it once so he must have stock in the company tha makes it. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

There are states that are taking it seriously, too: This is on the Pennsylvania government website. Another one: Essential activities. It is interesting to me that liquor stores are considered "essential."

Here's a made up word I have seen in a couple of places "infodemic" referring to the mass of information and misinformation flowing around in both the internet and the real world. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Funny the things that are or are not considered essential... https://www.bbc.com/news/business-52090441 "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Not strictly on topic but... I have a theory. I think Covid-19 was bio-engineered by a cabal of super-intelligent pandas. Look at the evidence. 1. It started in China. China's national animal is the panda. 2. It's called a PANDemic. 3. The pandas have started breeding. Come on. How much evidence do you need? It's there in black and white. The pandas are coming to get us. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

They'll have us all in PANdemoneum mode soon. They'l BAMBOOzle us with cuteness, then kill us!

Still more evidence emerges... both Corona and Panda Pops were brands of soft drinks marketed at children - children who will be adults now! Were they secretly feeding it to us all along? The questions need to be asked. Why has this not been raised? Are our leaders really just pandas in human suits? Look at them. It’s all obvious "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Nowadays Corona is a Mexican beer which has stopped production due to some idiots thinking it causes Covid 19.

Like all conspiracy theorists I shall discount that as it doesn't fit in with MY theory. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Let's not forget the Japanese connection: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...rona#T20,_T30_series

I'm going for the Italian connection. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

Love it, Bob. I am so sick of all the misinformation going around. And frankly, I am sick of all the news being about it. The only positive part is that we are hearing a lot less about Donald.

In Donald's new guidlines for opening he has several new terms that are not defined, making it quite vague, such as physical distancing, as opposed to social distancing.

I like this website for some of the more medical words, such as "transmission." A term that is being talked about a lot is R-naught. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kalleh,

On the subject of disinformation (dys-information?) - Neal Stephenson, in his book Anathem, discussed a method of identifying inaccuracies by running a claim through a "CRAP filter." I don't recall what he conjured up as an acronym but boy, could we use one now...

We sure could. I have always been a little vague between "misinformation" and "disinformation," though I know we've talked about it.
