Shu used this word in this thread. It makes me wonder if Peggy Parish, author of Amelia Bedelia books knew this word. In this series of books for young, new readers, Amelia is a household maid who takes every phrase literally and invariably makes a mess of her duties. For instance, when she's told to dust the living room, she spreads dusting powder (talcum) around the room.
