Is there any linguistic connection between the curator of a museum and the curate of a church?

Yes, very much so. Both come directly from the Latin curare, "to take care of". A curate takes care of the souls of his parishioners and a curator takes care of the museum and exhibits. Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.
