In medicine and nursing one can hardly keep up with all the changes in terminology. For example, in my area of clinical practice it used to be "shock lung", which then turned to Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Now in nursing regulation what used to be "substance abuse" is not called "substance use disorder." The latter probably has changed because of political correctness. But there are so many that it's hard to keep up with them all. Is this happening in other fields as well? We hear on this board that language is changing, but when it's so rapid, it negatively affects communication.

Oh, yes. In nursing it used to be foreign nurse graduates. Now that's terrible...it must be international nurse graduates. It's hard to keep up with it all!
