I think I've gotten all I'm going to get, so here they are:

1. One of several newly discovered subatomic particles, discovered during testing at the CERN reactor.

2. A type of rye bread popular in southern France

3. A well-behaved child or young person.

4. An iron or steel breastplate

5. The area between one's fingers and toes.

6. A bargain-priced, over-stocked pinniped

7. The post used to tie horsecarriages to in front of English townhouses

8. The froth or foam found at the edge of a tidal pool

9. The object offered up for a sacrifice.

10. The radius between the upper portion of the nose and the brow.

11. Archaic: A narrow strip of land demarcating two or more properties.

12. A rascal; a knave.

13. The lower esophageal sphincter.

One's for real - which one?

I have no idea but, considering the propagator of the word, I'll have to select #13.

I'll try 10.

Since we seem to have all the guesses now, here are the results:

1. Bob's

2. Bob's

3. Arnie's

4. Arnie's, fooling Bob.

5. Mine

6. Proofreader's

7. Proof's

8. Proof's

9. Kalleh's

10. The real one, as deduced by the nearly unfoolable arnie! http://www.drsteiger.com/artic...y-chapter-radix.html

11. Mine, ensnaring Bee3five and Kalleh.

12. Mine again

13. And again, it's my sphincter. Wink Proofreader swallowed it.

Some good daffynitions by all!

I'd never heard it either. I got it through a process of elimination and guessing.

Arnie, how did you go about eliminating other possibilities, such as the one "l" selion?

I'm surprised that Bob got no votes!

Some were the sort of definition that crops up time and time again so I discounted them. 1, 2, 8, and 12, for example. The others I just guessed. What is the one "l" selion?

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Selion Elsewhere I found it defined with specific measurements, but can't find that reference right now. No idea of its origin.
