Rob had though Aire’s Cross was so named because it marked a ford on the River Aire, but the priest said the hamlet was called after a great rood of polished oak within the church.
Our new location will be Aire’s Cross!

Mine's in...finally! It took me forever to think of this one. My line 2 came to me in the middle of the night (and it's not that good!).

On the other hand, we could keep it the way it is...less competition for me. Wink

I'll write a couple tonight and post them tomorrow.

Only three submitters, but excellent quality.

From Richard:
When trying to write on Aire's Cross
I found myself soon at a loss.
    It has no Google site,
    So I've nothing to write,
And my limerick's lacking in gloss.
From Kalleh:
There's a beauty who lives in Aire's Cross
When she gracefully moves, her hairs toss.
    At her body men oogle
    (Her picture they Google);
They sigh, "Ooo, her derriere's boss!"
And three from Bob:
When trying to deal with hair's loss,
    There's a salon downtown in Aire's Cross
    That's recovered the hair
    Of his honour the mayor
And are trying to treat the mayor's boss.

What kind of fellow dare's toss
Dynamite in the lake at Aire's Cross
And then takes all the fish
From the hungry bears' dish –
His gain being every bear's loss.

A beautician who works in Aire's Cross
Said of the lady mayor's loss
Of the shine on her nails
    "Well this stuff never fails
It's a varnish that just repairs gloss."
I liked all three of Bob’s limericks. I liked them a lot. But none is the slightest bit risqué or dirty, and this is a serious failure. In limericks it is appropriate to be inappropriate. We want of nocent unspeakable iniquity, not innocent speakable iquity, and Bob’s non-indecency cannot be rewarded. Wink I therefore award the prize to Kallah. And honi soit qui mal y pense!

A little nepotism perhaps?

Shu had a great idea; I wanted him to write a limerick with it. "Where's Tross?" After all, she has been missing in action lately from Wordcraft.

I will think for a day and then post one. I've changed my mind a little about these. At first I thought the place should have easy rhymes, but I think a bit of a challenge is fun, too. But don't worry; it won't be a huge challenge.
