Way North in the cold of Alaska
I met a gal hot as Tabascah
But as for the name
Of this quick-moving dame,
She kept me too busy ta ask 'er!

2
A native man of Alaska
Hates the mere sight of Itasca,
Winnebago, et.al.
They spew trash - what a pall!
Send 'em back, says the man, to Nebraska

3
A lady I met in Alaska
Isn't from there, if you ask 'er
Although she's now found
Near the great Norton Sound
Her native tribe's Athabaska

4
I met a great girl in Alaska,
Who moved there from Lincoln Nebraska.
The cold makes her shiver
And shudder and quiver.
Could I warm her in bed? I will ask 'er!

5
I am moving to Fairbanks, Alaska.
It's a much bigger town than Tantasqua.
"But," they said, "That's so far
From the state where you are!
Why, it's further than even Nebraska!"

6
We booked passage to Nome, in Alaska
(Which is far from the state of Nebraska).
"Don't your girl friend and you know
The capital's Juneau?"
I said, "I'm not sure but I'll ask 'er."

Question:
And your choice is...

Choices:
1
2
3
4
5
6

Well, I voted. But I'm not convinced that this hyper-limerick by Legman/Shufitz from 1976,
first presented here in 7/13/2004, isn't better than all of them:

There once was a girl from Alaska,
Who could, and she would, if you asked her.
But soon she grew nice,
And went up in price,
Til no one could touch her but Jesus H. Christ
Or conceivably John Jacob Astor.

(How did you - or even Shu - dig that out of your memory, Kalleh?!)

I always remembered that limerick from when Shu posted it. I asked him tonight how he came up with it, and he said he has no idea. Roll Eyes

You can see by these that we all had the same ideas...

There's a very old and sophomoric (or maybe only fifth grade) joke that goes:

"If Mississippi saw Missouri in her New Jersey, what would Delaware?"
"Idaho, Alaska."

Alaska was too hard for me-me,
The quarantine's dulled me, you see-see,
I know what I like, though:
My vote's in and I go
For waltz-time, that swingin' 1-2-3.
