Letter Game Login/Join

I saw this game at another site and thought we could try it here.

Use a word like find
1. Add an 's' to make finds
2. Change the 'i' to an 'u' and get fund
3. Or remove the 'd' and get fin

Only use one choice per turn. Add, Remove or Change a letter.

I'll start it with the word

Cake

Haberdasher, this is what Morgan wrote in the introductory post:

'Use a word like find
1. Add an 's' to make finds
2. Change the 'i' to an 'u' and get fund
3. Or remove the 'd' and get fin

Only use one choice per turn. Add, Remove or Change a letter.'

So Im not sure where an added letter might go without breaking any rules!

I am tempted to write
SPOOL

adding the letter at the beginning but, erring on the side of caution, I'll stick with
fool

I have just thought that if this continued, the word could become much longer and the game, consequently, much more interesting and somewhat harder! perhaps I shoul offer up both SPOOL and FOOL and leave the choice to the next player.

Surely you can add the letter wherever you like? I agree with Taddy!

Let's get shot of the double O with

SPOIL

Can we delete a letter AND change the order?

May we?
Could we?
Should we?

I agree: we should be able to insert the letter wherever we want, because it's left unstipulated. (This is not 1984, in which anything not specificallly permitted is forbidden.) But to change more than one thing at a time _is_ specifically excluded.

I don't see anywhere to go after SPOIL except SOIL.

(There are ways to kill a line, and we need to agree whether there is virtue in propagating the line or in bringing it screeching to a halt...)

Short of brambles I think we might have backed ourselves into a corner, unless someone wants to cheat and take 2 moves in one!

I vote that if we can allow pome we can allow gramble. and from there we go to grumble, as you mentioned. After that we move on to

rumble

it's just a new apple-ication of the word "pome"
besides, grambling is a venerable institution with a proud history

bumble

(could have made that "hum-able," like some advertising jingles, but we're trying to keep this thing going...)

I have been dying to find a word that fits but does not shorten this word. Interestingly, with Google I can find a number of sites for "drofits", though it seems to just be a misspelling of "profits" in the links. Stange!
