Many hours of fun can be had (if you have no life, like me) by playing with one of the online translation services such as provided by Google.

Type in an English phrase, and obtain a translation into another language. Then copy the foreign translation and translate it back to English.

One example I particularly like is the Portuguese translation of "The Mamas and the Papas". It comes back as "The Breasts and the Popes".

Apocryphal story from the 60s -

An early attempt at machine-translation into Russian and back:

"The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" is fed in
the Russian output is fed back, and out comes...
"The vodka is good, but the meat has spoiled."

I think not... Cool

Reviving a thread...

I read this today and laughed a lot! Big Grin

A Hungarian journalist interviewed Madonna. He asked questions in Hungarian, she replied in English, then it was all translated into Hungarian and then translated back into English:

Q: Let us cut toward the hunt: Are you a bold hussy woman that feasts on men who are tops?

A: I am working like a canine all the way around the clock.

"The vodka is good, but the meat has spoiled."

That is a bad day in my book.
