1. An epicure born in Amboise
Fancied berries, preferring framboises.
And as an esthete
She avoided all meat,
And she pondered what "Rack of Lamb" was.

Haberdasher

2. I grew up on a farm back in Amboise
Where the ewes had such cute little Lamboys
Mary took them to school
Where they swam in the pool
Till they grew to be much-too-big Ramboys

Haberdasher

3. I once had a girlfriend named Roz
Who rented a flat in Amboise.
In order to shower
Squoze past a racked tower
Where hung her vast DD-cup bras.

Bethree5

4. An astronomer lived in Amboise
Spent his nights looking up counting stars
He said if I may
I will switch to the day
And at night I’ll just visit the bars

Bob Hale

5. A crime wave was afoot in Amboise
Where an itinerant Swede name of Lars
Said on your washing line
Your shirts will be fine
I only steal knickers and bras

Bob Hale

6. It's tough to write verse on "Amboise"
Without being improperly noisy.
Should I rhyme it with "Boz"
Or with "Boys"? Hard because
Neither works if you come from New Joisey.

Haberdasher

7. I drove from Vendôme to Amboise
To wine and dine lovely Françoise.
My menu was bold
Her shoulder was cold
She ate naught but chilled vichyssoise.

Bethree5

8. My tour guide to charming Amboise
Was Jean of the très énorme schnozz.
Inside the Château
He gave it a blow
And nearly knocked over a vase.

Bethree5

9. Leonardo Di Vinci in Amboise
Worked on models, designs and his man toys.
His tomb is there now;
To see it is - WOW!
It gives you great pleasure and fan joys!

Kalleh

Will the real Amboise please stand up! Oh, wait, that's the wrong show. Please pick your favorite, or pick your nose, or teeth, or whatever.

It's not easy to pick from what's here, and my preference isn't that clear. But from choices this great I shall pick Number EIGHT - makes me think of the late Edward Lear!

I'm going with 6 and its "creative" pronunciation

Only two of you voted, so Bob and Haberdasher, whichever of you comes up with a new location first gets to emcee the next round - IF you want to bother. I'm not casting a tie breaking vote because nearly all were superb.

Too bad there were so few contributing. There are some excellent limericks here on a difficult rhyme!

OOOOPS!!! I can't count! It was Bethree5 whom Hab voted for, so it is she who should select a location if Hab doesn't. Ohhhh, if I only had a brane..."

Actually, to be consistent Line 5 should have read

"...Neither woiks if you come from New Joisey." !

(But, as Ralph Waldo Emerson said - "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds...")

Whooaa, youse guys are moving along at a fast clip these days! Thanks for kudos. My fave was obviously New Joisey-- 'woiks' is a good edit. Thanks for picking a new place. Had been racking my slowpoke brain in case I won, can never think of limericky locations. Smile

IMO it was a toss up whether you won or not. Great stuff from you, as usual!
