Great city! It just so happens I am reading a book ("We Were the Lucky Ones") where one of the characters is in Toulouse, and I fell in love with the city. Nice to rhyme, too.
This is probably the wrong forum to mention this, but since it is the only forum here I regularly contribute to, I will. I find it somewhat odd that the universal language of mathematics, is not universally abbreviated in predominantly English speaking countries. We Aussies (and the Brits I assume) abbreviate it to "maths", but in the US (and no doubt the Philippines and probably Canada), it's "math".

Greg, we in the USA do seem to lump all of mathematics into just the singular "math," but many of us recognize that as being the abbreviation for "mathematics." Thus it may not be as narrow as it seems at first look.
Bob and I talked about this the other day. The call it shorten "mathematics" to "maths" because of the "s" on the end. We don't. Seems the same to me as why Brits and Aussies spell it "colour" and "honour" as opposed to our "color" and "honor." Or some such.
I don't think so. "colour" and "honour" come from French; mathematics" is from Greek. You can thank Webster for messing up the spelling of the first two. I doubt Webster had anything to do with maths/math.
