Have you ever wondered why so many "blank-J" initials are used in nicknames? I have heard of people named: AJ BJ CJ DJ EJ JJ KJ LJ MJ OJ PJ RJ SJ TJ Why is that? No other letter even comes close, does it?

It's just a way we have of keeping track of each other. (World domination will commence in three weeks.)

I think it must have something to do with "J" being a real name, "Jay." However, a friend said that many Irish Catholic men have a middle name of "Joseph" and that might be a reason.

John is also a very popular middle name - mine for example. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.

James is popular as well. My brother is another CJ; Colin James. Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

My daughter's an intern for E-Bay And though her initials are CK, My embarrassment grows Since each fellow she knows Has now taken to calling her "BJ." For some strange reason, the Washington Post decided not to print that one. Chris Joseph Strolin
