A famous advertisement came out just after the War with an ambiguous use of the pronoun "it." Yet, its very presence ensured that the
advertisement has never been forgotten. Simply the advertisement read:

"Don't kill your wife with work - let electricity do it!"

Any other funny examples of misuses of pronouns? Or just plain funny examples of writing? In looking for misplaced pronouns, I found this: "Sorry to hear you narrowly escaped death."

I don't see that the word "it" is either ambiguous or misused in that sentence. The meaning is clear. If you want to kill your wife, electrocute her.

I saw a policeman with his dog in the pub; he was scratching his ear with his foot.

Here's an old one:

"He was at death's door, but the doctor pulled him through."

The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind and they may be seen in the church basement Friday.

Eight new choir robes are needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

Oh, now that is hilarious! Big Grin Wink

It reminds me of some humorous examples I have seen of student nurses' charting.
