As a child listening to the radio (You do remember radio, don't you? It was like television, but the images were far superior)I heard the introduction to the Abbott and Costello comedy show (Yeah, they called it "show," even though it was a "tell") thusly: Here's Buttabbott and Lucas Tello.

"Here's Buttabbott and Lucas Tello." I misheard a couplet in Invictus. (That's the poem that ends, I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul."} written: "My head is bloody, but unbowed." heard: "My head is -- bloody butt! -- unbowed."

A story circulated some fifty years ago about two gents sitting in a bar in Dallas, Texas, discussing current events. One commented that he'd heard that President Truman was raising taxes. At that remark a large and less-than-sober cowboy arose angrily from a nearby barstool and, with one vicious uppercut to the jaw, knocked the speaker out cold. "What'd you do that for?" the victim's companion asked carefully. "All he said was that Truman was raisin' taxes." "Is that what he said?" mumbled the cowhand, flushing with embarrassement. "I though he said that Truman was raised in Texas!"
