Three days...time for another hint. Mel Brooks used a bunch of these to break through the fourth wall in his movie, Blazing Saddles. UNHORSES DUO Myth Jellies Cerebroplegia--the cure is within our grasp

Yes, I got Blazing Saddles from Mongo, but I don't recall the ROUNDHOUSES from the final escape scene, just horses and riders charging through the "screen," out of the movie, into the audience and on. My loss, I'm sure. Do you remember that ALTO DISH in the posse scene? All those dimes? That one cracked me up even more than the campfire! [Caution: parental guidance advised ;-) ]

You don't remember all the roundhouse punches thrown in that climactic scene? Still, Mongo's roundhouse is the best. Myth Jellies Cerebroplegia--the cure is within our grasp

See, I used to live near Southern State Parkway, and they put up a tollbooth there, and every other tollbooth in the city cost a quarter, but this one only cost a dime, and when I saw the tollbooth in Blazing Saddles...

Your glacial reference implies that MELTWATER is the right unscramble. As long as we're on the water, find Hawaiian night life on a HILO PROWL. Just don't get lost and go around in circles! Edit: typo. Phooey. This message has been edited. Last edited by: haberdasher,

I'll have to work on that for a bit. So far, all I have is that if it were CONINE ACTORS (instead of CANINE) we could make CONSECRATION.

finally came up with gubernatorial...couldn't have done it without your hints. Trouble is, I never watched Gomer Pyle, or Mayberry USA, or even Andy Griffith. So I cheated in response to your clues and Googled "Gomer Pyle cousin beanie." Then after wandering about a bit following "Goober peanuts" and such I couldn't even indulge in O, PRISTINE ANGER because you had neglected to stipulate "two words." Which of course it wssn't !

Hmm. It makes ROASTABLE, but somehow I doubt that's what you have in mind. I'm trying to wrap my mind around something like a trebuchet, device for throwing heavy stones against a besieged castle, but can't quite come up with it. Yes! ARBOLEST Nope. No such word. And missing an A, to boot. And it's one letter away from ALABASTER. (That would have been a Table Rasa.) But it's astrolabe. On another tack altogether (that might have made a good word itself! LO - THE GREAT! ) It's the end of Autumn, when I GO LE A F Peeping. (edit for clarity: without the color, that's "I GO LEAF Peeping.")

The reds and browns from the deciduous trees leaves are especially attractive at the moment. Then they make MA DOLEFUL (UK spelling). Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Perhaps it was just an allergic reaction to leafmould that made Ma look sad? Anyway, those who like to put their bare butt on wood (pardon MY COARSE language) should plane & sand it well to avoid splinters. Myth Jellies Cerebroplegia--the cure is within our grasp

not MINISCULE or MINUSCULE not LUMINESCE Out of Ss; not CLUMSINESS Out of spice? CUMINLESS. Out of snot? MUCINLESS. Your father's brother keeps coming up with neat phrases - UNCLE-ISMS. Watch the concert through a MUSICLENS. None of the above. I'll keep working on it. Is there a LEMNISCUS ? I know a geometric figure called a LEMNISCATE - shaped like a ribbon, apparently.

I shudda known that without asking! After all, it's only 1963 or so that I studied about the medial and the lateral lemniscus in neuroanatomy...dark green and light green clay they were on the model, as I recall. But, moving right along (after clearing away 45 years of fuzz)... "Is that ugly-looking furniture really supposed to keep me from getting so tired?" said the cow. MOO (CRINGE)
